How is Star’s Poker Club a legal poker club?

Texas laws prhobit direct costs for any gambling activity, such as a paying an entrance fee to participate in a poker tournament. Star’s Poker Club does not participate in or levy any gambling fees, odds, wages, proceeds, rakes, commissions, etc. Regardless of whether you are playing in a $1,000 tournament, a $1,000,000 tournament, or enjoying sports on the big screen, everyone at Star’s Poker Club pays membership fee. All tournament and cash game funds are paid out 100% to only member participants. Flat rate tournament fees, seat rental fees, and other direct gambling fees are illegal in the State of Texas. Star’s Poker Club charges the exact same membership fee to everyone, regardless of the activity someone may be participating in. Therefore, if you are using the club for any reason whatsoever, you have to be a Star’s Poker Club member.

Do I have to be a member to visit Star’s Poker Club?

How does Star’s Poker Club charge for activities and other amenities in the club?

Star’s Poker Club members are charged a daily or monthly membership fee. Once you are checked in, you will have access to all Star’s Poker Club amenities.

Why do I have to check in just to watch TV or hang out?

Remember, Star’s Poker Club is a private club. To maintain our status, we have to consistently manage access for all members. Therefore, you must be an active Star’s Poker Club member. This is important due to Texas law requiring any poker game to be played in a private setting. In addition, mandatory check-ins ensure compliance with Texas law and helps maintain our status as a private club.

Why don’t you charge a flat fee for poker tournaments?

Charging fees for poker tournaments is prohbited under Texas law. As noted above, regardless of what tourament you participate in, you only pay a membership fee. All the prize money in a tournament is paid out in full—100%—to participants. Our policies are in place to maintain compliance with Texas law.

How do I become a member of Star’s Poker Club?

You must be 21 years of age and have a valid government ID. You must fill out our contact form to inquire about membership; actual membership enrollment will take place at our location.

Can my membership be revoked?

Star’s Poker Club reserves the right to revoke your membership if you are found to violate Club Rules, the Code of Conduct, or etiquette rules; failure to pay membership fees; failure of a criminal background check; or other reasons.
